How our December 2007 begins..

We had the opportunity to be with GM & GP again this weekend. We, of course had a great time with them. We're just told that they made it safely home...oh how glad we are to hear that. I'm so sorry for the trouble driving back home with the snow, traffic and such, but we sure glad to spend time with you guys. Thanks!

Here are the highlights:

Friday night watching the snowflake lane production at Bellevue Square. We had it in one of the day for our advent calendar, but since GP&GM were here, we decided that it would be neat to go with them (thanks for standing in the freezing cold with us to enjoy it!). It was freezing cold, but Hazel was pretty excited about the drummer soldiers (I was pretty excited too!). It really was a neat FREE show. They even gave out free popcorn and candy cane to everybody. They had an oldtime-looking popcorn sleigh. We had to leave early since it was pretty cold, but we assured Hazel that we'll go back. Can you believe that they have it every night at 7 pm? To think about how much money they spent. Oh, and as we're leaving they shoot out bubble from the top of the building...and the bubbles really look like snowflakes.

Saturday, we had our first snow fall. It was beautiful. The flakes falling down from the sky. What a sight to see really. We were on the way to see a movie, but decided to come home to play in the snow with Hazel. As we got home, she's already napping, so we then went to see Enchanted. I loved it. I can't stop singing the song on the way home....it annoyed Quinn a little maybe.

Can you see how excited she was? It's really her first snow experience that she understands what it really is.

After being out in the cold snow, we went inside to have some hot cocoa and cookies. It was GM's recipe for the hot cocoa (put some brown sugar and a drop of vanilla with your regular hot cocoa). It feels so good to be warm after being soo cold outside.

After a while, she still wanted to play with the snow again. So, I got a little bucket and scooped the snow and brought it to our balcony for Hazel to play. She had fun for a while before she decided to eat the snow. She's so excited to eat it since her dad said it's okay. When we asked her what the snow tastes like....she replied "Like a blueberry!" with an excited tune.

GP reminded us to open our advent calendar. I almost forgot since we did lots that day already. And it was "to make an ornament and hang it on the tree". GP helped Hazel painted an ornament and it's hanging on our tree right now.

We're excited since our first of December started great with the snow falling. Hope we can have the true spirit of this season!

Oh what fun it sounds like you had! I doubt Quinn was annoyed one bit. He probably thinks he's hearing angels whenever you sing. :) Sing on, sister! Happy snow days! You better get the snow checked if it tastes like blueberries. It's probably contaminated. We're getting pretty excited to see you guys. Afton was pretending to talk to Hazel today. Do you think I could leave a longer comment?

WHat a treat! That parade sounds amazing and I am shocked they do it every night at 7pm! Then again, it is Bellevue!

Cute pictures! We had a lot of fun with our kids in the snow and wish it would stick around longer (it will melt this week). Would you please e-mail me your advent calendar activities!? It sounds like so much fun!

Great idea on bringing snow up to your balcony!
