Nov 8th -- 8:15 pm

As you all know that we started to potty train Hazel on Thursday after her ballet class. Quinn was reluctant to do it then, since he was thinking that early in the morning will be a better time to start. But, really, it was the right time to do it without interruptions (I have Friday & Saturday open). Well, Hazel was pooping in the toilet when she was 8 month old. Then she had rectal prolapse that worried us all. After consulting with the specialist, we decided to let her poop & pee in her diaper. The prolapse hasn't came back (let's hope never), so we tried again to potty train her.

Potty training for some kids is easy, and to others it's hard. For Hazel, even to put on panties seemed like a nightmare. The week before we bought race cars briefs (yes, for boys - since they don't have it for girls), waterproof mattress pad, party stuff and baby doll that can demonstrate the action to her. Then when we got home from her ballet class, daddy prepared a party for her doll (she named her doll "Chocolate") since she can go potty by herself. We had all different kinds of juice, party hats, and party blower. She had so much fun celebrating the event. After the party is when the REAL party begun......oh what a party!

Thursday was a HARD day for her. She cried A LOT!! She screamed even when we tried to put panties on her. I almost backed out, but Quinn said "There's no going back honey!" So, we kept on going. I consoled her a lot and tried to be strong. A little while later she finally realized, wearing panties is not that hard and it's fun! Luckily my mom & my sister bought lots of panties for Hazel when we went to Indonesia. So, the options are many for Hazel to choose. She almost couldn't decide which one to wear first. But, we all know which one she had her heart set on.....the Lightning McQueen ones.

After wearing panties, she tried to hold in her pee so much and cried a lot. You could see fear in her eyes when she's about to go. We kept on asking her if she needs to go, and she always yelled "NO!". She had 2 accidents that day....and using Rachel's advice to wash up with cold water when accidents happen, we did just that (with the nice explanation of course) and she DOES NOT LIKE it! And we sat her in the toilet when she had accidents. It was a long day for all of us just because it seems so hard emotionally. We talked to her what happened and what she's supposed to do when she feels the urge to go....we even ran around from all corners of the place to the bathroom to tell her if she needs to go this is what you're supposed to do.

Around 8pm I saw her moving her legs and said I want to go night night (that's the sign from those 2 accidents), then I picked her up pulled down her pants and sit her in the toilet. She cried of course.....and I hugged her the whole time she's sitting in there, kissed her and told her we love her so much, and that she doesn't have anything to be afraid of. And after getting tired of crying for a while, I said to her "Let's be quiet and listen to your pee!" And at 8:15pm she successfully peed in the toilet. There was a scared face on her face when she's about to go (maybe she's so afraid of letting go of it?). But, after she went and seeing that we're all rejoice with happiness, a smile was on her face again. We kept on telling her that we're so proud of her and that we love her so much. Right when we heard the pee sound, I looked at Quinn and there's small tears in his eyes. Yes, it was that hard for us, and yes we're SO PROUD of her that she COULD do this! We celebrated her big event that night. We had party hats, blowers and danced around. Her rewards every time she went are stickers to put on her potty chart, a penny to put on our small candy dispenser. She's so proud of her self too. I am so happy seeing her happy again that day.

Today is Saturday and I'm proud to report that she never had accidents again (let's hope never). She even went poo in the toilet. There was time when she ran to the toilet all by herself and stood on the step stool and said "Help! I need to go poo." We even went on a drive last night and ToysRUs this morning and she did really well. Yes, she got a big reward from ToysRUs for overcoming this (what seemed to be huge for her) challenge at this stage of her life. We love you so much Hazel and are so proud of you!
